Shut up. Be happy.

Here's Claire Fox of the Institute of Ideas, speaking last year (passed me by at the time) casting a critical eye over the government's superficially silly, but actually rather sinister happiness agenda. Happily (!) the gov has gone a bit quiet on this one, although no doubt the policy wonks are still beavering away with their plans to put Soma in the water supply.

Part two here.

Very close to the target, Trooper!

In Ireland there has been a great increase in the number of suicides. It was proposed at an official conference by a senior psychiatrist that the authorities should add lithium to the water supply as an anti depressant.

You really couldn't make it up.

That's been suggested elsewhere, such as Japan. Lithium is not an anti-depressant, in any case. As far as I know it's an anti-psychotic. They often proscribe it to depressive people, but only because the anti-depressants cause psychosis!
